Partners - Centre for Peace Osijek, IKV Pax Christi the Netherlands and Centre for Democracy and Community Development Jerusalem (CDCD) – were dreaming about and discussing cooperation on such a project already several years ago during our regular partner- meetings. This call for proposal gave us an opportunity to shape this final project proposal together with the aim to exchange experiences regarding peace-building, inter-ethnic dialogue and conflict-transformation between Croatia, Palestine, Israel and The Netherlands
Project Background
The aim of the project is develop tailor-made tools for inter-ethnic dialogue in support of peace building activities in war- and conflict affected areas in Palestine and Israel. Examples of best practices in peace-building and with cooperation during the war conflict in Croatia
in the period between 1991 and 1995 will be discussed through first-hand recollections and experiences of activists directly involved in peace activities during that period, from both opposite sides: Serbs and Croats. In this exchange of experiences with peace-activists and trainers from Croatia, capacities of young people from Israel and Palestine will be increased and they will be better able to launch peace building initiatives in their local communities.
Through mutual cooperation and support, young people active in peace- and community building in Israel, Palestine, Croatia and The Netherlands will feel strengthened and will develop new peace building initiatives, activities and projects, also as a toolkit and example for others.
Activities planned within the project: (1) Preparation of the project in general and of the study visit to Israel/Palestine, (2) Study visit from Croatia to Israel/Palestine, (3) Preparations in Croatia for the visit from Israel and Palestine to Croatia, (4) Preparations in Palestine for the visit from Israel and Palestine to Croatia, (5) Working visit to Croatia and final Conference, including training and field visits, (6) Photo-exhibition exposed in Israel, Palestine, Croatia, Netherlands, and brochure on the project.
