The program is dedicated to people of ethnically divided communities of eastern Slavonia, who are wounded by war, in order to start the process of recovery and healing. By overcoming personal war wounds different ethnic members and groups will become connected and able to carry on the process of healing the wounds of their communities.
The most affected town by the war is the town of Vukovar and therefore our main working area.
The work is focused on several specific goals
- Supporting personal growth, psycho-physical and spiritual health of individuals through developing capacities for self support and mutual support of different community members in dealing with trauma
- Exchange and study of positive experiences through dialogue and learning as basis for development of friendly relationships
- Empowering different ethnic and religious groups for dialogue and peace building activities in their communities
- Increasing public awareness about the need for dealing with war wounds
The program is based on values: reconciliation, personal growth and the holistic approach to health and healing.
Main activities of our work are training workshops (one-day and two-day trainings), follow-up meetings, individual support, evaluation meetings and study visit to England.
Training themes elaborated through the program are:
- Holistic approach to health
- The art of listening and hearing
- Identity as a place of hurt and growth
- Wounded Healer
- Healing through forgiveness
- Truth, justice, mercy and peace
