Trial against Marko Crevar, charged with a war crime against prisoners of war referred to in Article 144 of the Criminal Law Act of the Socialistic Republic of Yugoslavia.

INDICTMENT (SUMMARY)

On 5 March 2013, the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia laid the indictment against Marko Crevar charged with a war crime against prisoners of war M.K. and D.G, who were detained as ex-members of the reserve formation of the National Guard Corps (ZNG) in Vukovar on 18 November 1991. Crevar is charged that in his capacity as ex-member of the Vukovar Territorial Defence he maltreated prisoners of war M.K. and D.G in the Collection Centre KPZ Sremska Mitrovica on 27 February 1992 during interrogation, requested that M.K. and D.G admit to the charges and provide intelligence of military significance whereby he was kicking them and battering with metal objects. According to the charges in the indictment, Crevar committed this criminal offence together with Ljuban Miljanović and several more John Does who were members of JNA and RSK Militia.

PROCEEDINGS IN THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA

The Osijek ŽDO in its indictment no. K-DO-18/07 of 29 May 2007 charged Marko Crevar, Ljuban Miljanović and Marko Kraguljac with torturing several Vukovar prisoners in Sremska Mitrovica. The State Attorney's Office of the Republic of Croatia transferred this criminal proceedings to the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia which indicted Marko Crevar only. Therefore, according to the information received from the Osijek ŽDO, criminal proceedings against the other two accused persons is continued in the Republic of Croatia.
